A Better Track specializes in providing pre-employment and self-advocacy training to students with disabilities ages 15-21.
Services are performed in public schools and community settings.
Instruction is to groups of 5-20 students with some individual instruction.

The purpose of A Better Track is to teach students the ability to create opportunities for themselves and their future.
We accomplish this by teaching 8 core principles of Job Readiness Training along with social skills, self-advocacy skills, and life skills instruction designed to support these 8 principles.

Job Description:
Employment Readiness and Self-advocacy Instructors will be responsible for providing instruction of ABT curriculum to students with disabilities, IEP/504 plans, or any other verified disabilities ages 15-21.
Responsibilities Include but not limited too:
Work collaboratively with educators and school staff to provide relevant instruction.
Actively engage with students in both the center and in the community.
Communicate regularly with educational specialists with plan feedback in order to ensure quality and effective planning.
Use positive communication strategies to motivate students to work on and reach their goals.
Use a variety of strategies to assist students in understanding and effectively dealing with their own social skills.
Assist clients to implement difficult changes or adjustment in order to meet their goals.
Monitor, evaluate, and collect data on student's progress and targeted skills.
Record data consistently and accurately in consonance with specific guideline Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to all students.
Engage with students about on-going discussions for their individual goals and self-growth.
Develop and facilitate life skills sessions and individual programs for youth.
Plan and implement vocational programs and opportunities for youth.
Instruct students on how to manage everyday tasks to help them gain confidence, independence, and the ability to move forward in life.
Work one-on-one or in small groups to help students with unique challenges to develop basic life skills.
Set meetings with students on a weekly or monthly basis depending on the student's situation.
Must be able to work independently.
A Better Track Instructors are trained and experienced with motivational Interviewing, utilize a strength-based approach, follow evidence based and best practices, and practice trauma informed care.

We are a Department of Vocational Rehabilitation contractor and proof of vaccination is required by the state of Washington for this position.
