This job is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the kitchen and retail areas in accordance with policies and procedures while ensuring consistency in daily operations.
Actively contribute to team processes and maintain cooperative work environment while providing direction and training to staff.
An employee is accountable for ensuring that all food handling guidelines and regulations are understood and strictly observed, and that the standards for quality food service operation are followed.
Promotes positive public relations and helps create a relaxing, enjoyable environment for our internal and external customers.
Essential Functions:
May perform, as required, any or all of the Essential Job Functions set forth in the Food Service Worker I and Food Service Worker II, job description(s).
Works under the direction of the Food Service Supervisor, directs and oversees the work of subordinate staff and ensures they understand and apply regulations and standards applicable to personal hygiene and food preparation/handling/disposal.
In absence of the Food Service Management, assume ultimate authority for department.
Their role is to be the person in charge (PIC) per the Food Service WAC 246-215.
Manage the day to day scheduling of personnel, calling in additional staff as patient volumes, and helps find replacement of personnel unable to make their work assignments.
Performs work assignments in accordance with regulations and standards applicable to personal hygiene and food preparation/handling/disposal; keeps abreast of department standards, as well as local, state, and federal agency guidelines.
Participates in quality improvement activities as assigned; ensures that service timelines are met for assigned areas; provides input and creativity to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and/or productivity.
Coordinates the implementation of new policies and procedures with Management and collaborates in problem solving and troubleshooting efforts as necessary.
Understands and monitors data from our electronic temperature monitoring system.
Monitors equipment and storage areas to ensure operation, sanitation, safety and security practices are being maintained at all times.
Will communicate any equipment issues and input work orders into the online system.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

Maintains a clean as you go work space.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Position Requirements:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is an essential requirement of working at Confluence Health.

Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Obtain and maintain a Valid Department of Health Food Handler's permit issued by the State of Washington.
Advanced Food Safety Certification (available from NEHA or ServSafe) must be obtained within 90 days of working.
Two years of work experience in the senior level of the job family, or any combination of experience or education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Considerable knowledge of the policies, standards, procedures, processes and tools applicable to the work unit and the function.
Willingness to be open to learning and growing.
Some knowledge of the regulations and internal guidelines relating to employee supervision and performance management.
Ability to promote a positive work environment and effective teamwork, and to establish and maintain effective working relations as required by work assignments.
Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS) Desired:
Culinary degree or certification is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of modified diets or healthcare experience.
