The mission of WVHS is to protect, educate and adopt with a vision statement To create a compassionate community for pets and the people who love them.
WVHS has an average intake of 5,000 animals each year.
Services includes Animal Care & Control (ACC) to a two county region and programs to assist income qualified pet owners.
The Veterinarian under the general supervision of the Humane Society Director is responsible for providing humane medical care and treatment for animals housed within the shelter including stray pets and those in foster care.
The Veterinarian provides high quality, low cost spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, exams and other treatments to income qualified pet owners and community cats through a TNR program.
Working Relationship Works closely with Veterinarian, Clinic Manager, Veterinary Assistants, LVTs, Volunteers, and other staff.
Works closely with shelter staff in regards to treatments for shelter animals.
Essential Functions 1.
Work collaboratively with directors, managers and staff to build a culture of accountability, truth, trust, fairness and goodwill.
2.
Perform physical examinations, X-Rays, lab diagnostics, vaccinate animals, prescribe treatments, select/interpret diagnostics and make euthanasia decisions as determined by resources, policies and budgetary guidelines.
3.
Conduct a cost contained sterilization program, including performance of ovariohysterectomies and castrations of cats, dogs, and rabbits.
Supervise all aspects of the procedures including anesthesia and post- operative care of the patient.
4.
Provide emergency treatment during normal work hours for injured animals in the care of WVHS and ACC 5.
Review, implement and measure compliance with procedures and protocols to ensure improving and continued health of animals.
6.
The DVM will decide what treatments or procedures are needed in coordination with the Director or other managers as appropriate.
7.
Collaborate with outside veterinary resources for procedures not available at WVHS.
8.
Work with the Clinic Manager to ensure that medical equipment and clinic is maintained and in working order.
9.
Remain knowledgeable in recognizing and relieving pain and suffering in shelter, foster and ACC populations.
10.
Ensure federal and state regulations regarding the practice of veterinary medicine and controlled substances are being followed.
11.
Assist kennel staff to ensure the comfort and health of all shelter animals while remaining within budget guidelines.
12.
Demonstrate highest ethical standards, trustworthiness and independent judgement.
13.
Provide the Clinic Manager feedback regarding the performance of veterinary support staff.
14.
Supports the relationship between the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors, staff, Board of Directors, volunteers and business partners; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Collaborate with Clinic Manager to assist and participate in community Spay and Neuter Clinics Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1.
Doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM).
2.
Must have State of Washington veterinary medicine license.
If you do not already hold a WA DVM license, WVHS encourages you to obtain this license within 30 days of your start date.

Must be able to obtain and maintain DEA controlled substance registration to administer, prescribe and dispense controlled substances for the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society.
4.
Proficient in the use of a personal computer and related software.
5.
Knowledge of state and federal laws governing the practice of veterinary medicine.
6.
Comfortable acting as a leader.
7.
Knowledge of high volume spay & neuter clinic.
8.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Potential and Prolonged Exposures Prolonged exposure to various aqueous solutions, including but not limited to, dish soap, chlorhexidine, and spectra soap.
Prolonged exposure to isopropanol, hydrogen peroxide.
Potential exposure to formalin solution.
Potential exposure to isoflurane gas.
Prolonged exposure to quaternary ammonium cleaners and bleach.
Prolonged exposure to pressurized steam.
Potential exposure to sharps including needles and surgical blades.

Must pass a drug screening Working Conditions The offices and operations of a high volume spay/neuter clinic can be high stress and very busy at times.
Candidate must be flexible with schedule, may include rotating weekend hours both Saturday & Sunday.
The fast-paced environment requires multi-tasking and being a calming entity for people and animals who may be experiencing stress.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
